Working Horses

Horses changed the way humans lived. Once people started riding horses they could travel long distances in a short time. On horseback they could hunt for food more effectively. With a horse, people could carry more crops and do more work.

Jack says:

The first horse weighed less than twelve pounds. These small creatures had arched backs, short tails and long snouts. Instead of a single-toed hoof they had four hoof like toes on their front feet and hooves with three toes in the back.

Anna says:

Some of the most famous people in history had horses that were almost as famous as they were.
